This cool climate sauvignon blanc has none of those tropical fruit salad varietal characteristics seen in many of the Marlborough sauvignon blancs. Bannockburn Winery produces a sauvignon blanc of wonderful texture and complexity, where smoky undertones complement aromas of gooseberry, green chartreuse, native honey, nettle, and resin. The palate is plump with a layered, mouth filling texture, balanced by mouth tingling freshness and flavours of smoky grapefruit, and blackcurrant, with a mineral acidity giving extra length to the finish. A nashi pear and celery salad or soft brie sounds perfect!
