This Houghton cabernet is a full-bodied easy drinking wine with soft tannins, and at a great price. The nose displays a bouquet of cassis, liquorice, and blackberry, with hints of bayleaf, black olive and integrated oak char and spice, while the palate has loads more cassis (blackcurrant), and dark plum flavours, with overtones of tobacco leaf, which is perfectly balanced with hints of cigar box, soft tannins and a touch of oak. Great with a juicy grilled steak, roast duck, or marinated barbecue pork with apple and rhubarb couscous.
