This is a really full, mouth filling and well balanced shiraz from The Macedon Ranges just north of Melbourne. With scented aromas of liquorice and blackberries, overlaid by vanillin cedar, subtle leather and spice, the palate is rich and supple, dominated by liquorice/aniseed like flavours and more of those ripe blackberry notes. Hints of dark plums are also evident on the mid palate, followed by vanillin cedar, and a lingering peppery earthiness. It finishes long, with a final grip of fine tannins that will compliment a Moroccan lamb stew, or a grilled pepper steak with onion and blue cheese.
