McWilliam's Hanwood Estate Shiraz
This Hanwood Estate shiraz at around $10 is real value for money. With an attractive nose exhibiting fresh aromas of plum, blackcurrant and dark cherry, enhanced by hints of spicy black pepper, fresh chocolate and nutmeg oak giving added complexity and lift, the palate has more of those fruit flavours of blackberry, plum and cherry, along with some rhubarb, coupled with a varietal black spice. These vibrant characters are balanced by fine tannins and a subtle toasty mocha oak, providing a palate that lingers, thus making it an ideal accompaniment for red meats, a spicy pizza, or baba ghanoush with toasted Turkish bread.
